AFSHIN KOUPAEI Univ.-Ass. MArch
Afshin is an Iranian Licensed Architect and Construction Supervisor Based in Vienna, Austria and Isfahan, Iran. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from IAU (Iran, Isfahan, 2008) and his Masters of Architecture from the University of applied arts Vienna (Studio KAZUYO SEJIMA, 2019). He was practicing in the field of computer programming before studying architecture and had been teaching programming and software development using MS C#/VB to computer science students from 2002 to 2005. Afshin had worked as a designer, architect, construction supervisor, and project manager in Iranian Architecture and Urban design firms from 2005 to 2012 where he was engaged with projects of different scales including small and big housing projects, hotel buildings, office buildings, industrial sites and re-planning of worn-out urban districts. he won the prize for best renovation project (Fara-Tahghigh office) at MEMAR AWARDS 2008 (Iran National Architecture Award) together with AMORDAD Design Group. Afshin founded GOZAAR STUDIO in 2012 (Iran/ Isfahan) where he managed to try and incorporate his previous knowledge and experience of computer programming in the field of architecture. Apart from the design and realization of different architectural projects, Gozaar Studios experimental approach lead to several academic workshops and experimental pavilions. Afshin had taught a joint lecture at the Azad University/West-Tehran titled Digital Processes in design and fabrication (2014/15). He worked as a researcher at the EVA Research project (Evaluierung Visionärer Architekturkonzepte, 2017-18) and is the newest member of DDPLAB/Institute of Architecture at University of Applied Arts, Vienna. he is focused on re-establishing geographically contextual design methods and fabrication technologies. He is trying to deploy traditionally common design and construction techniques (mostly vernacular techniques) to reinvent contemporary design and fabrication typologies.

ARMIN HESS Univ.-Ass. DI
studied at the University of Technology in Graz, where he graduated at the department of urban planning under Prof. Joost Meuwissen in 1997. From 1997 till 1998 he worked in Amsterdam at the office of Ben van Berkel UNstudio.
Back in Austria he co-founded urban-filter.com in Vienna in 1999, working on architectural competitions and realizing projects in the field of urban design, housing, offices and interior design.
Armin Hess started teaching as assistant professor at the University of Technology Vienna in 2001 at the Institute of Architectural Sciences and taught advanced CAAD techniques at the Department of Architectural Design and Construction. Since 2000 Armin Hess has been teaching at the University of Applied Arts under the head of Wolf D. Prix and Hani Rashid and from 2008 till 2010 at the Urban Strategies Postgraduate Program in Vienna.
Besides his teaching engagement Armin Hess leads his archviz related CG company ISOCHROM since 2000. In 2012 he co-founded ‘lectricEye to provide visual services for luxury brands.

DANIEL PROST Univ.Ass. Mag.arch.
is an Austrian born architect and designer based in Vienna. He is also an assistant at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in the DDPLAB. He recived his architectural education in the studios of Wolf D. Prix and Hani Rashid. After graduation in 2014 he got the opportunity as a freelance architect to move to Shanghai to construct his first project. After that a number of hospitality and office projects in partnerhsip with architectural or design offices followed. In 2016 he joined Studio Schwitalla in Berlin, to work on more experimental projects at the intersection of architecture, urban design and socially valuable projects. Since 2017 he is an associate architect at Some Place, a design studio located in New York City and Vienna focusing on architecture and exhibition porjects. Daniel gained his first digital production experience already during his education, while working as a rapid prototyping assitant at Studio Rashid for 3 years and is now the latest member of the DDPLAB.

LISA WOLF Univ.Ass. Mag.arch.
is a designer and researcher. She is an assistant at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and an instructor in the DDPLAB.
She studied architecture in the studios of Wolf D. Prix and Greg Lynn in Vienna and received a scholarship for a research project in South America, which is summarized in her diploma.
She has worked on several projects with Gregor Eichinger before moving to London to work for Acme on large scale architectural projects.
Having a strong interest in product design she decided to work for Tom Dixon and his Design Research Studio.
She’s working as a product and interior designer and joined the IOA in 2017 where she’s teaching in the DDPLAB and holds a course on digital fabrication.

DANIELA KRÖHNERT Univ.Ass. Mag.arch.  –  CURRENTLY ON SABBATICAL
Born and raised in Karlsruhe, Germany, she studied architecture at the KIT (Karlsruhe Insitute of Technology) and graduated with distinction at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in Studio Prix in 2011. From 2009-2010 she was part of the „Crossover Studio“ of the IoA, lead by Gehry Technologies, to gain experience with their Building Information Modelling software „Digital Project“.
Being unsatisfied with a pure theoretical education, she co-founded the Design Collaborative „4Rooms“ and started realization of several projects during her undergraduate studies in Germany, including a temporary pedestrian bridge „roer_bro“ for a music festival in Karlsruhe.
Since 2007 she has been practicing with Coop Himmelb(l)au internationally on numerous projects and competitions, specializing in Digital and Parametric Design and CNC-manufacturing processes.
Besides leading the DDPLab in Vienna she is a freelance architect and designer and also holds a teaching position at the University of Nuremberg at the Institute for Digital Design and Drafting of Prof. Niels Jonkhans and regularly hosts traveling workshops in Romania and Germany.
